We are pleased to share that the Notice to Proceed for the State Streets Road Rehabilitation Project was officially issued on October 21, 2024. This marks the beginning of the much-anticipated improvements to our neighborhood streets.

Starting October 28, 2024, crews will begin preparatory work for the project, including:

• Tree trimming to clear areas for safe and efficient construction activities.
• Utility marking to identify and locate existing utility lines in the area.
• Potholing to identify and verify the exact locations of underground utilities.
• Saw cutting of pavement to prepare for future construction activities, such as curb and gutter replacement.

Please note that groundbreaking construction activities are scheduled to begin as early as November 4, 2024, following Halloween to minimize disruptions during community celebrations.

These early-stage activities are essential to set the stage for upcoming construction efforts. You may see crews working in various areas of the project zone as they complete these tasks.

Crews have been continuing with preparatory work for the State Streets Road Rehabilitation Project. Current activities include:

In addition, boring work for the installation of conduit to support future fiber infrastructure has now begun as a separate activity. This is an important step to ensure the proper placement of conduit for future city improvements.

The State Streets Road Rehabilitation Project is progressing despite weather-related delays that have impacted construction activities. We are pleased to report that boring for fiber conduit has been successfully completed, and fiber box restoration has begun.

Crews are anticipated to resume full-scale construction activities the week of December 2, 2024, weather permitting. This will include continued work on fiber box restoration and curbs and gutters along 16th and 17th Streets.

Crews are making steady progress on the State Streets Road Rehabilitation Project. This week, curb and gutter demolition was completed for the year, marking an important milestone. During the week of December 16, crews will focus on pouring curbs, gutters, and driveway conforms along Vermont Avenue. Additionally, curb ramp construction is advancing at the intersections of 17th Street & Vermont Avenue and 16th Street & Alabama Avenue.

Holiday Schedule

Construction will pause from December 23, 2024, through January 3, 2025, in observance of the holidays. Work will resume on January 6, 2025, with continued efforts to complete the next phases of the project.

Notices for work planned to begin on January 6 will be distributed to residents on January 2-3, 2025.
