Project Update January 8, 2025
Happy New Year! The State Streets Road Rehabilitation Project is back in full swing as crews resumed work on January 6, 2025.
This week, construction is focused on completing all remaining curb and gutter installations along Vermont Avenue. Work includes:
- Both sides of Vermont Avenue South, from 19th Street to Stone Boulevard.
- The west side of Vermont Avenue, from Jefferson Boulevard to 17th Street.
Looking ahead to next week, crews will begin work on Carolina Avenue and 19th Street, with concrete pouring scheduled from Wednesday through Friday.
Please note that all scheduled work is subject to weather conditions. Crews will monitor conditions closely to ensure safety and efficiency while making any necessary adjustments to the schedule.

The bounds of this Project will be within Stone Blvd, Park Blvd, 15th St, and Jefferson Blvd (Project Map).
Background:
The state streets neighborhood underwent sewer rehabilitation in 2020 and a water main improvement in 2021. The pavement condition in this neighborhood is poor.
The objective of the State Streets Infrastructure Projects is to correct some of the infrastructure deficiencies identified in the City’s Sewer Master Plan (State Streets Sewer Project), Water Master Plan Water Master Plan (State Streets Water Main Replacement Project), and Pavement Management Plan.
Description:
This project will consist of road rehabilitation and striping, adding ADA ramps, and fixing curbs and gutters. This project will improve the condition and quality of the road, striping, curb and gutter. This will improve the conditions for active transportation.
